Day #16

HAVE A NICE DAY!

Ditch the self-service checkouts today and actually have a real conversation with a shop worker about their day. Remember eye-contact, say thank you, and smile! Enjoy being human.

I always try to be as pleasant as possible with shop-workers and the like (I'm even pleasant with telemarketers). I don't usually instigate conversation because there's nothing worse than a customer boring you to death or asking annoying questions, but I do ask how they are and smile and say thank you. I know that most of them probably hate working where they work and are slowly counting down the minutes until their shift ends. Who can blame them?

I went out to dinner tonight to a beautiful Chinese restaurant with one of my closest friends and made the extra effort to smile and say thank you whenever the wait staff came to our table. After our delicious meal we had a brief conversation with the woman at the register about our meal and which items were our favourites. Her favourite was the pork dumplings. She's not wrong; they were bloomin' delicious.

The lesson of today: TRY THE PORK DUMPLINGS...unless you're allergic to pork.
